Mar. 11/11

We are well into the month of March and, although spring officially arrives a week tomorrow, it still looks very much like winter outside.
Chetwynd officially welcomed Aaron as the new pastor last week.  The congregation has been praying, faithfully, for over a year and God has heard and answered.  Aaron plans to visit each individual and family member.

This morning there has been continuing news of an earthquake and the resulting tsanamis in the eastern part of the world.  The west coast of British Columbia is expected to be affected.  The Bible predicts that there will be continued weather and man made disasters and it is easy to become afraid.  However, if we remember that God is in control of everything, it is He who created the world and all that is in it, we can be at peace.
I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God; in him will I trust.  Ps. 91: 2

Today is the World Day of Prayer and people all over the world are getting together to pray for the country of Chile.  It is only one day of the year but still good that this event does focus people on the need to pray.
This Sunday, Aaron officially starts as our new pastor.  This too is an answer to prayer.
The members of Chetwynd have been faithful in prayer and trusting God to answer.  And He has.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Phil. 4:6

Feb. 11/11

Happy Valentine's in advance.  On Sunday we will be gathering at nine a.m. for a continental breakfast.  The men will be serving and the women will visit with each other.

On the 27th, Aaron Oliveri will be taking over as interum paster after an unanimous decision by the church board and members.

Devotional

The most romantic book in the Bible is the Songs of Songs.  While it extolls the love between a man and a woman, the greatest love of all is the Heavenly Father's for us.

You have stolen my heart with one glance of your eyes.  Song of Songs 4:9

Jan. 30, 2011

Another month is almost over and its passing marks another year well started.
There will be a business meeting following the service and a light lunch this Sunday.  Members  will be asked to made a decision regarding an interim pastor.

Our sympathies go to Bill and Lorna on the loss of his brother.

DEVOTIONAL

In this life, we must deal with many heartaches.  Loved ones die, many of them after years of suffering and others at a very young age.  Friends hurt us, financial hardships lead to difficult decisions that affect our lives, and natural disasters can take away all that we have.  This life is not easy nor does the Bible promise it would be but we do have the assurance that our Heavenly Father will always be with us.  We also have the promise that our eternal life with him will be heavenly.

I will never leave you nor forsake you.  Hebrews 13: 5

Jan. 21

The first month of the new year is nearly past.  The days are getting longer and those who look forward to spring are beginning to feel hopeful.
This Sunday, the 23rd, Aaron Oliveri is once again going to bring the message.  He was joined by his wife last week so our faithful musicians were able to have a break.
The following week is our annual business meeting which will follow the service and a light lunch.

Please join us at 10.45 each Sunday.  You are assured of a warm welcome and the imputation of God's word.

Devotional

We all love new things whether it is a different kind of food, an article of clothing or other material object.  Travelling exposes us to different scenery and a chance to meet new people.
For Christians, each day gives us a new chance to serve and worship our Lord.  It is also another opportunity for our Heavenly Father to show how much He loves us.

Behold, I will do something new, now it will spring forth; will you not be aware of it.  Isaiah 43: 19

Dithery Me

We went to Huntsville to do some shopping this morning.  I had to return something, my husband needed a USB cable for his phone, groceries had to be bought and, of course, fabric.
Our first stop was the office supply place where I had to do the return as well as the USB purchase.  I had carefully put the return item in my bag along with the receipt so when I got to the check out I would be all prepared.  Of course, I couldn't find the receipt.  We paid for the cord while I continued searching without success.  The clerk was kind enough to say they could give me a customer card in the amount of the purchase.  While she was doing that, I suddenly 'found' the receipt.  As I was congratulating myself, I noticed the amount and realized it was the item we had just purchsed.
I am sure the clerk thought I was a real airhead but she just continued doing up the card.  I thanked her for her patience and slunk out of the store.
Oh, and I found out later that I had misplaced another receipt.  This one was to show I had purchsed something at the grocery store on a previous trip which wasn't in my bags when I got home.  When I had called the store, they told me that the unpacked items had been handed in to their office and would be waiting for me when I came in.  I remembered this while in the store but, alas, no receipt.
I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.
Blessings

Jan. 7, 2011

We are well and truly into a new year.
We are missing a few of our members now as they have either left their summer cottages for the season or left the country for a warmer one.
A business meeting will be held after the service on Jan. 30 following a light lunch.
