May 13, 2011

This Sunday we are celebrating Chetwynd's anniversary and our guest speaker is John Kelsall.  We will be having a pot luck lunch following.
In July, we are organizing a boat tour.  If you are interested, speak to Ralph, Cathy or anyone on the board.  There is a sign up sheet at the church.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the residents of Manitoba and others who are losing their homes to the devastating floods.  In times like this, we are often tempted to offer platitudes but the best thing we can do is pray.  Our Heavenly Father is able to comfort and provide the courage that is needed.

Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you, surely I will help you.  Isaiah 41:10

May 6, 2011

This Sunday is Mother's Day so why not join your mother at church before taking her out for lunch.  The service starts at 10.45 and mother's will be honoured for their contribution to the family.

One of God's greatest gifts is our mother.  They love us unconditionally, kiss our hearts, laugh at our jokes, treasure a gift of a dandilion from a small child's hands and guides with the wisdom she has gained through experience.
She speaks with wisdome and faithful instruction is on her tongue.  Proverbs 31: 26

April 6, 2011

This morning the sun is shining through the windows, my husband is making maple syrup and we saw a robin.  It is the kind of day that makes everything else seem easier.
At Chetwynd Community Church, we are enjoying our new pastor, Aaron and his musically gifted wife, Jennifer.  We are also getting ready for a number of activities.
On April 24th, we will be celebrating Resurrection (Easter) Sunday.  This is the day we acknowledge and rejoice in our Lord Jesus' defeat over death.
On June 4th, we will be hosting a luncheon for ladies in the community

As you are aware, we are in the middle of an election.   Like you, I hate hearing all the nasty comments, accusations and other  diatribe.  Wouldn't it be wonderful if all the candidates followed the advice given in Proverbs.

Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.  Proverbs 16: 24

March 25/11

The older I get, the harder it is to remember what day of the week it is.  Sunday and Monday are the only ones I can remember.  Sunday because of church and Monday is my quilt group day.
Sunday has become 'just another day' to the majority of people in our culture but I can remember when if you didn't go to church, you were the odd person.  Now, of course, church goers are considered strange.
This week at Chetwynd we will have our regular service at 10.45.  Everyone is enjoying our new pastor's messages.  They are challenging but not given in a manner where a person feels they are being chastized.  We are also enjoying the addition of Aaron's wife, Jennifer, to our music ministry.
If you don't have a home church, come and receive a blessing.

For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.  Eph. 1:4

Mar. 11/11

We are well into the month of March and, although spring officially arrives a week tomorrow, it still looks very much like winter outside.
Chetwynd officially welcomed Aaron as the new pastor last week.  The congregation has been praying, faithfully, for over a year and God has heard and answered.  Aaron plans to visit each individual and family member.

This morning there has been continuing news of an earthquake and the resulting tsanamis in the eastern part of the world.  The west coast of British Columbia is expected to be affected.  The Bible predicts that there will be continued weather and man made disasters and it is easy to become afraid.  However, if we remember that God is in control of everything, it is He who created the world and all that is in it, we can be at peace.
I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God; in him will I trust.  Ps. 91: 2

Mar. 4, 2011

Today is the World Day of Prayer and people all over the world are getting together to pray for the country of Chile.  It is only one day of the year but still good that this event does focus people on the need to pray.
This Sunday, Aaron officially starts as our new pastor.  This too is an answer to prayer.
The members of Chetwynd have been faithful in prayer and trusting God to answer.  And He has.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Phil. 4:6
