A Word From Our Pastor-Avoiding Deception

2 Thessalonians 2:9-11
The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

I came across this scripture while during one of my daily Bible readings. It  stood out to me with some of my recent sermons (and conversations with my father) that it is becoming difficult to tell a deceived soul from a Spirit filled soul.
My father cited BIBLICAL examples where Holy Spirit filled christians would cast demons out of unbelievers, perform other healing miracles and actively function in the supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit.
With that in mind we also read from Matt 7, 2 Thessalonians, and other parts of the new testament where people who DO NOT KNOW God also function in similar ways. (Matthew 7:22) (2 thess 2:9) (Matt 17:4)

I only mention this to share my own conclusion on the thought and application of Truth in my life.

I never have to wonder if it's God's Will for me to read His Word
I never have to wonder if it's God's will to serve at my church
I never have to wonder if it's God's will to love my wife and son
I will NEVER be deceived by God's Word in it's context
And I will NEVER be deceived by God!!!

Acts 17:11

King James Version (KJV)
11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

In Times of Trouble

Sometimes it is only when we face difficult times, that we fully appreciate God's loving care.  One of my favourite chapters in the Bible is Psalm 91.  This is where I go during trials and the words always bring me comfort.  The vision of God with His all encompassing arms folded around me, protecting me, comforting me will bring me peace no matter the storm.
This world is not always a happy place.  We face loss of loved ones, illness, separation by real or emotional distance from family members, financial concerns and much more.  The daily news adds its heaping of terrorism, weather disasters and famine.  It is enough to overwhelm anyone but and this is a huge, capital letters, large font BUT our Lord, the Creator of heaven and earth is with us.  He will be all that we need.

I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust."  Ps 91: 2

Read through that Psalm as though it is a conversation between you and God.  It is.

Thirst No More

While I was driving my car and listening to Christian music a small epiphany occurred in my mind and soul. Rather than describe to you exactly what happened I will share with you what I wrote down....

Have you ever caught yourself wanting something you know you don't need? Or desiring something you have no right to? Have you ever made the wrong choice and followed it up with yet another "wrong choice"?
Perhaps you are guilty of drinking from the world's well. Everyday I see people who not only are relying on the world for their fulfillment but add to it by only calling on God when they're going through a trial or tribulation. God and His grace toward us is to be relied on DAILY!!! When we don't then we soon find the well of the world dehydrating us and leaving us wanting more, and all along God has told us "drink from my cup and I will QUENCH your soul"
The word of God says THIRST no more..... Not drink no more. We are to continually consume and swallow the life giving Word of God. Submerge ourselves in the cleansing of our mind, body and soul.
Our God.
The ONLY source that will truly quench the eternal drought that is a soul separated from our REDEEMER!!!!

But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

John 4:14

After all the noise of a secular world's oppressive lies of strife and struggle our redeemer tells us THIRST NO MORE!!!

Redeemed

Greetings!!!
As this is my first blog post I will properly introduce myself.
My name is Aaron Oliveira. I was raised North of Burk's Falls in the little town of Sundridge. My parents are Pedro and Anita Oliveira, they are Godly, loving and sincere parents who raised me to believe not only in the Power of God but also His Grace and Love toward us.
I also have two younger siblings Leah my sister and Isaac my brother. All of my family is serving the Lord in our own abilities and degrees and that alone is a testament to my parents teaching and love in the Lord.
That's enough about me for now :-)
I was listening to some Christian music on my way home from work on Friday and caught the song "Redeemed" by Bog Daddy Weave. The song reaches it's lyrical pinnacle in the third verse when it states....
"Because I don't have to be the old man inside of me
'Cause his day is long dead and gone
Because I've got a new name, a new life, I'm not the same
And a hope that will carry me home"

Tears welled up in my eyes as I drove North on Hwy 11 towards home in the realisation of yet another beautiful and vivid picture of God's Grace toward me.... and toward the world!
Not only am I redeemed in eternal salvation, but  God has redeemed every one of my doubts, disappointments, fears and negative personal attributes.  I AM A NEW MAN. Not just "eventually" but TODAY!!!
God is speaking to my whole person when I hear the words........... I AM
REDEEMED

The Love of God

Pastor Aaron returns from a holiday with his family this Sunday and we will be celebrating communion.  Last week, Tom Kelsall, a member of our congregation brought a message on love and its impact on people's lives.  He reminded us that the only perfect love is the one that comes from our Heavenly Father.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only son that whosoever believes in Him shall have eternal life.
John: 3: 16

May 20, 2011

Last week, we were blessed with a message from John Kelsall as Chetwynd celebrated it anniversary.  the pot luck that followed was delicious as always.
This weekend is the first long weekend of the spring/summer.  We are looking forward to seeing some of our church members returning from their winter homes.
There has been a lot of talk in the media today about a prediction that tomorrow will be the day that Christ comes to take the Christians home.  It could, of course, happen but the Bible says that we don't know the time or day and that it will all happen in the twinkling of an eye.  That means there won't be any predictions, or preparations (other than the ones Christians make every day). One that day all those who have been smirking will fall on their knees in horror at how foolish they have been.  We who worship our Lord shouldn't look on that day as when we will be justified.  It is only because of God's Grace that we will escape the punishment of the unsaved.  We need to do everything we can to ensure that the Rapture consists of everyone we meet.
Keep yourself in God's love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.  Jude 1:21
